Cannot fork the litecoin repo

When I click the Fork button at GitHub - litecoin-project/litecoin: Litecoin source tree ,
instead of creating my fork of litecoin, I am redirected to my existing port of GitHub - bitcoin/bitcoin: Bitcoin Core integration/staging tree

Why is that? Is it because the litecoin repo is itself a fork of the bitcoin repo?
Cannot forks of a fork be created?

Similarly, if I delete my bitcoin fork, then fork litecoin instead,
I can no longer have a fork of bitcoi: clicking Fork
gets me to the existing fork of litecoin.

Am I missing something obvious?
