difficulty

If more people start mining litecoins because of its rising price, does it make it more difficult to mine? From the technical aspect, how is  the difficulty adjusted? I know that it involves using cpu or gpu to keep trying to find the next hash to a block but how can you limit the chances to find one when the difficulty rises?

Please take a look at the article I wrote called "How mining and the block chain works."

It explains the answer to Difficulty and all the other basics.
