Windows 8.1 64bit (Was originally 32bit before, which was where my other problems were coming from if you've been following me)
MSI Z77A-GD65
1600w Lepa g gold rated PSU

top to bottom:
1 - 290x - 1x to 16x powered riser
2 - 290x - 1x to 16x powered riser
4 - 290 -  1x to 16x powered riser
6 - 290 - 1x to 16x UNpowered riser.

I can get at at most 3 working (the powered cards).

If I had the last 290 and set the Intensity above 10, it shuts off after a few seconds; immediately if I = 20.

I can't run the two 290's together or it crashes. No BSOD, just cuts power and reboots.

I can run the 2 powered 290x's and the unpowered 290 fine, OR the other 290 instead.

I'm wondering if it's a power issue from the wall, there not being enough juice left in the circuit to power the rig,
Or maybe they all need to be powered?
Or maybe the powered risers aren't doing their job and the mobo is trying to save itself from a meltdown?

What does everyone here think the problem is?

Get another powered riser!

Is there any particular reason you're not using 16x-16x risers?

Also only have 3 16x slots.

1600w should be enough for x4 290x,,, unless they are sucking more than 375W each.

pm sent.

Yes, you have to split the load between the 2 12v rails on the lepa 1600.

That might be my problem.

I think I just need to distribute my load better. (That's what she something...)

I just plugged in everything all willy nilly with ignorance of rails and why this huge PSU comes with more than 1.
